Owhonga
Just had three days off the 42 traverse down by the wanganui river
Not a lot of sign around after the green rain so jumped the river to the turangi side found a lot of old sign but still bugger all animals
But did manage sum nice trout to 5lb
Anyone else hunt this area would be keen to hear how u got on after the rain
Or a bit of advice would be much appreciated

I think you mean Owhango mate.

It is an area where you need to find the clearings and watch them early and late in the day. Can be fairly productive

Its easy to blame 1080.
I'm pretty sure that a large area got repellent.
Anyway, still plenty of deer. I will PM you after the Christmas hols with a couple of spots in Tong forrest where you should have some luck.

I was in that area 3 weeks ago for a morning hunt, lots of sign and picked up a young stag in the middle of the track and spooked another.
