Blimey. I wish that farmer hsd offered me a crack at a stag in there and some yearlings for meat.
well, cant REALLY like that, but it surely was effective AND they were making sure of clean kill at times so guess they confident of the others....GREAT to see some of them coming out on hook, hopefully going into good useage somewhere...
Numbers like that are quite common these days
Shooting a moving target from a helicopter like that looks like it takes a lot of skill.
Yes some nice bucks in the fix, I agree at least some meat was recovered and wounded animals were finished off. It's just a sign of the times, to many deer about so they need to be culled.
Looks like they went out on the hook ungutted, so for tb testing??????
Watching all those bucks getting shot Is a bit disappointing for me, it’s my bucket list animal at the moment reckon I could give a few does a tickle up as well
That or were flown to a central location and gutted in the one spot
What is the shooting range in the video? Looks like good shooting. What make of red dot is that?
Hey Fat ninja, you moved to Christchurch? Chasing all the big bucks?
Shotgun I think.
says 300 blk......but if range is 20-30 yards, shotgun with the smaller #7 buckshot would be devastating...32ish balls at bit over 22 calibre at that range would be spread no more than ...1" per yard= 20-30inch pattern so just about pepper entire deer from one end to other...20 yards be entire front end.

looks like a sig sauer romeo5 series

Were you doubting your own ability, or was that just me? Yeah some of those shots look like 200m one bullet wonder shots. I've never done pest control out of a helicopter, but it looks both difficult and fun. I have enough difficulty shooting hares out of a moving vehicle (on farm). Of course I'm usually also driving at the time which adds to the challenge.
Yeah for sure...I was thinking of running the 300blk numbers in the app again as well
yes I know that....#7 isnt common loading but it sure as shit is more effective on smaller animals....wallabies we found were better off with #BBs or #2 as it filled out pattern and had enough penertration for those tthin skinned/light boned hoppers who are as a rule no heavier than a fat Labrador . the #7 has less pellets but way more penertration, than BBs.....way more pellets and less penertration than 00 sort of best of both worlds....in my experience.

There you go :)
Good one @Hahn. All this talk about shotguns and I'm sitting here thinking, I'm sure I saw a mag with rifle cartridges in it. Bloody good shooting imo.
Don’t think there would be much meat coming out on the hook if a 12ga was in use..
FN or AR for culling and meat retrieval. 12ga for culling and leaving them on the hill.
He's got another vid using a Benelli M2 and that poleaxes em good and proper
Yes the od mag does get lost out the door of the machine it happens
Nice work. I thought a shottie might lack the precision for that but I guess at 30yd the buckshot would have minimal spread and would be confined to the head/neck. The chopper boys from the 60’s and 70’s were well served by their FNs etc. but a benelli m2 could well be a better option than a rifle?
Kudus to the controlled shooting. I noticed that as soon as the range got a bit much he redirected to other targets. A new shooter would be all over the place as they tried to decide which one to go for next. The clinical controlled approach reaped rewards time and again.
Its easy to get carried away on the emotional front, that they are shooting "precious deer" to these folk they are nothing but targets, to be hit in a timely manner and on to the next one.
I bet the recoil from the .300 BO is minimal. Looks like an O.D supressor as well.
Thanks for sharing.
If you stop it at 2.03 mins you can see sig sauer written on the dot.
looks like the youngfulla my cousin in palmy competes withs youtube channel
superb hunter/pest control access thru his old mans business and shoots just tons of deer
I see he has linked the cousins bee business in the description too
