    Plans for the Kaimai's

Brand new multi-day in the Kaimais?

I have mixed feelings about this mooted plan, current example is the extensive work DOC has been doing at Whaka to make it more a family friendly area. Landscaping, toilets, boardwalks, new tracks / signage
It has now been extensively damaged through inappropriate 4x4 use and signs shot with shotgun discharges
Kaimai ranges have significant weather events high river levels will contribute to inexperienced people getting differculty

I share your view point but at the same time I am happy to see any initiative that draws more kiwis into the great outdoors that we have here.
It takes 43 muscle's to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger pull.
What more do we need? If we are above ground and breathing the rest is up to us!
Rule 1: Treat every firearm as loaded
Rule 2: Always point firearms in a safe direction
Rule 3: Load a firearm only when ready to fire
Rule 4: Identify your target beyond all doubt
Rule 5: Check your firing zone
Rule 6: Store firearms and ammunition safely
Rule 7: Avoid alcohol and drugs when handling firearms

Surely Wairere Falls to Karangahake Gorge is 2 days at most? And they want to make a 4 day walk?

There is some rugged country north of the Tuahu intersection
Which is worse, ignorance or apathy...I don't know and don't care.

Jeez a fit young buck like Phillip would do it in a day Barefoot and that is carrying my gear as well.

What a waste of time that would be...Philip at the hut with your gear for three days waiting for you to catch up.

You are doing it all wrong Philip. Better off to load the ol'guy up, tape your knife to your barrel and get behind him and prod him a little...you would be surprised at the speed and distance covered in a day.

You would be puffed following him around in something that large.
