Greetings All,
My rifle optional mid week gentleman's hours bush walks hardly qualify as hunting I have found that the walk itself is the best preparation for me. As I plod along, keeping an eye on my surroundings and taking frequent rests, a sense of calm seems to envelope me. May it always be so.

Most of my hunting at present is day/night trips. Preparation is basically wake up, do I want to go hunting? Answer yes. Go hunting. Bumbag/small pack is always ready to go. Some of my mates reckon I’m mental anyway so I’m already prepared aye.
Lots of people struggle trying to figure out if Im being serious or joking :)

Greetings All,
I was sitting in my favourite chair this morning, gradually surrounding a large cup of tea, when an item came on the BBC about a couple looking for space rocks in Scotland. Apparently these fall to earth all the time
They were accompanied by what I assume was a space rock detector dog firmly attached to the young gentleman whose wild hair suggested he might require a little mature guidance from time to time. I mulled all this over and think I will add space rock hunting to rifle walking and Grandpa wanders as my usual excuses for my excursions. Taking a rifle to ward of aliens might be used as a new excuse for being armed but it might be better if you kept that one to yourselves if you wouldn't mind.
Regards Grandpamac
The turns this thread has taken! :D
I like to get all my kit ready to hit the bush, but before actually walking away from the car, take a moment to sit and have a cup of tea. That settles me, and I find I am much more attuned to the sounds and signs around me.
