    Profits Soar in Whangarei

    Warning. This is a moan.

I bought a box of shells for the up-coming duck season last week at our only provider of hunting gear in Whangarei - H&F. $47.99 for a box of Valle Steel in 20g. Jesus! I thought- but the 20g steel stuff is limited and I wanted the ounce loads - everything else seemed similar pricing.

Over the weekend I was in Tauranga and got a chance to go into Bronco's. $31 for the exact same packet of shells! I've bought more for next year.

The monopoly in Whanga's is working well for them that they can be $17 dollars a box dearer.

    Moan over.

As we get less retailers it's only going to get worse. Did you not want to buy wing master at $14 per SHOT!!!!

I’ve been loyal to Hamils in Rotorua since I moved here but they put their rifle ammo up recently and are now more expensive than H&F so I shop elsewhere now

Floormen stated it was to cover the new courier company costs….
Surly $17 a box x few slabs would pay for that? But I’m no postman.

Apparently they also have the rights to falcon ammo over farm source this year.
Floorman was apparently pretty chuffed with the fact when telling my mate. Imagine there’s more to that.

Falcon & eley were “normal” price..$35 I think? Don’t quote me.

He’s a smart fella, but I’d never be his fart smeller haha

& Hey, the man’s got to pay for insurance on his Ferrari somehow….. upside down head emoji

Simple way is to vote with your feet.
I don't buy anything from them as had a falling out a few years ago over faulty product which they would not stand by. Won in the end as they were in the wrong, but they made it as difficult as possible.
Better fishing shops in town and buy anything hunting wise in elsewhere.
For clothing I buy at the rural outlets and its better to support them over these guys.

You really have to shop around. Hard to do when not close too a city I know. down at Greymouth the 12 gauge Fiocchi is 29 a box, and made by Target products in NZ I understand.
    Unsophisticated... AF!

Vote with feet or shop around? Where else would you buy ammo in Whangarei or Northland as a whole?

I would have thought H&F being a nationwide chain would have the same prices in all there stores is that not the case?

    No mates

Seriously though, even if we could agree on a cartridge, we don't get through enough to justify buying a few slabs. Maybe I'll make a point of picking up a couple of boxes next time I pass through Auckland.

I would buy a lot more gear from them if they had a proper online catalogue. Don't know why such a big retailer doesn't. Maybe that's a reason?

Aren’t they franchised? Different stores stock different brands alongside the main ones. Each stores its own beast so an online catalogue with set pricing doesn’t really fit the model. When I was buying gamehead dargaville were generally $5-10 cheaper per box. Other option is Nola’s in darg who is tied in to same as broncos I think. Would need to check the mailer wild outdoorsman maybe? I ended up buying the 50 round boxes from GC as they always had stock (guessing parallel) where HnF through beretta never seemed to have it.

Wrightsons up your way don't stock shotgun ammo, know Farmlands don't.

Hi Guys, I am just looking at getting ammo (for collection only in Whangarei), let me know exact details, brand, weight and all (by email only fssprecision@gmail.com) and I can get you a price.

I have to say there is not much in it and shipping is expensive, but I am happy to see what I can get it for. I does, however save you Police Mail Order Form or driving to Auckland

I would however say due to shipping and time to arrange there would be a minimum order (I wont be buying one box)

    Cheers

    Darren
