    Rabbit busting

    Pretty cool video.

    Read an article on the Pope Gun in Australia. The .243 is just as popular here so I thought I'd post it up for all the .243 lovers....

    I prefer .270 for large Rabbits and Hares as the .243 can lack penetration if a stout projectile is not used.

    Ahh the .243. Mine likes 87g vmax, rabbits don't look too pretty afterwards

    Are there many places in NZ with that kind of rabbit problem? I'd love to spend a weekend doing that kind of shooting with a BA .223.

    +1 here have heard central is heaving with bunnies. Problem as always is access..... Maybe a forum member knows a few spots and could organise a weekend bust up?

    5 or so years back in north canterbury a mate and I went to a place with a rabbit behind every bush. We went out for the last couple of hours of the evening and shot 200 each, then went to bed and get up early and shot another 200 each. 800 rabbits in a 4 hour period is a lot. Places like that don't stay like that because they get mandatory poisoning.

    Reminds me of when I was a lot, lot younger on Waiheke Island, week end shoot on bunnies down at stoney batter, a brick of I C I amo my trusty single shot Remington target master rifle . We would camp by the old gun emplacements, bangers on the open fire, use up all the amo just shooting at rabbits!, great stuff, used to keep some bunnies for the old pensioners, "Haven't had rabbit for years' they would say. I had plenty off roast rabbit in the 50ties that's for sure. Maybe I could neck down the 45-70 to 6mill, , would be a good long range wild cat buggies buster.
