That model was my first rifle. Still have it. And as Craig said, he bought a second hand one for his son, so there are 2 in the family now.

    Thanks for the memory.

Really enjoyed that story. And yes, agree 100% with the sentiment about how rabbits started many of us of. I spent most of my childhood chasing them with a Weihrauch HW and a Staffy and Jack Russell. I've regressed big time since I got myself a decent .22LR a few months ago, only problem is there aren't any bloody rabbits around?! Here in the tops end of the Kaimais I've been out with my boys and the wife a few times recently and seen just one or two where normally there would be two dozen, last week on a nearby property numbers were well down too. So taking it out on the magpies instead, plenty of them.

Took the 7yr old and the 1963 Brno model 2 with the open sights on it yesterday and managed a couple of nice little groups @ 50m,set the boy up at 25m and he was shooting well, decided to see how far I could stretch the ladder sight and CCI subs, managed a 2.5in group on the 5in plastic plates we were using as targets from 100m,the sights were a bit out as far as the range markings went but I don’t think they are ment for shooting subs.125m elevation was pretty bang on @ 100m..no bunny’s around here at the moment either???been thinking about chopping the barrel and suppressing it like the jw15 I have but can’t bring myself to do it yet, that barrel is loooong..

But back on the thread. You're right, going back to a pure form of shooting / food gathering is good for the soul.

I have an old Voere single shot. I need to adjust the sights on it.

So far haven't found a place for rabbits though

That'd be awesome. I occasionally make it down to Galatea so not too much further to drive.
