The deer back-right is a Sambar yearling.

The ears certainly look like a red but would have thought that even at that angle you would have seen a bit of the white rump patch
Yeah, now that you say that the rump doesn't look right... but it doesn't like a typical Sambar either.
I review some more of the footage.
Might be just the light and camera angle. Sambar hind with targeted ears not the normal radar ear pose..:D
I need to investigate this more.. where exactly is this photo taken?
Definitely 100% red. Head shape and back end are typical. Adams apple gives it away as well.
Looks like a Red(young) to me. But then iv never seen a Sambar
Looks like a young red to me; the shape (length) of the face gives it away.
its a red nodout about it I have seen red hinds with very little rump patch
Interesting. Might have to head out this weekend for a hunt with the camera (got enough meat in the freezer).
Definitely Red hind , reds are being seen in normally Sambar strong holds southern Rota's .
General consensus is that is that it is indeed a red hind.
Cheers guys.
Looks Red to me too Raging Bull, and I shot a red in that general area a couple of years back :-)
