Might pay to Let them build up a bit so you don’t knock the population back too much
I might have to come with you......
Good spot for the next forum trip
Should have a forum bomb up with meat trucks to follow.
yeah needs closing up for another couple of years numbers bit low makes the sixty in a back paddock we saw back of Ruakituri in about 1972 look average
Be easy for yr dad to start deer farming.
Seen similar videos from South Wairarapa.
Yes I dont think they lasted long was next door to Francy Smiths place - me old mate Ken Lambert had the freezer at Tuai and a regular machine based there they would have got them be interested what that bush edge from Tuai to the Waipoa back of Francys old place holds in animals now be a few I dont doubt Woodgreen had quite a population back in those days to
Shit, that’s a lot of grass disappearing into the scrub.
dont shoot the breeding hinds.
serious though that's pretty standard on a lot of farms that border doc that's hard to access.i see mobs like that often on the tararuas eastern side.
back in 90,s we aerially shot 3 sheep stations back of Gisborne for goats Waimaha Huia and Papuni in two days we took 3500 goats of the I quess 10,000 acres - the Waimaha manager joked he could run an extra 500 ewes - I thought even a few more - so yes mob of reds like that be chewing some good grass every night imagine if one put a crop in - likely would not even get established
Yeah he was a neat bloke I worked with his son Neuton for awhile
]ohh yes Waimaha was over run there for awhile after the aerial shoot we did a number of week long runs ground hunting goats to mop up-must have been late 90,s me culling mate Allen and I worked a cunning plan we would do a week leave a week and go back - one week we shot 10 pigs and the Manager asked us to knock the number we shot back a bit the shepherds were complaining - after looking in the chiller I could see why - we had 10 and there was one other little one in there - but Allen shot one good boar later weighed at 210 lb - I was crawling along a pig track out the back of Huia in the fern and just in front of my nose was a huge set of fresh boar prints that had ne nervous - one old boar on the big ridge above Waimaha wanted a piece of me one day - he looked in poor nick so left him alone but played with him for 10 mins he would jump up and down and grunt clash his tusks and stand his ground about 50 yards away - I would say to him try anything and I will shoot ya - more gnashing and chomping - eventually he moved of - I would not have liked to have met that bugger in the dark - great days - I have a 36 1/2 inch billy from Huia still on my garage wall
Amazing!! Might need to leave them be for now. Let numbers go up. Nice meat. Going to be great!! :)
Jeez, any more than that hopping through and the things would be skin and bone... Having said that, there must be enough tucker there to support them at the moment if they are in those sort of numbers. I'd say the bush would be - skinny, though.
Says video is private for me?
Same
Was fine yesterday, so I think someone didn't want the world looking at their farm. Suffice to say there were shit tones of deer on the move.
