    Theres always a risk I guess but I wont loose too much sleep over it . Im looking at heading into Longview Hut or Daphne Hut. Looks like private land on the first part of the track into Daphne till I hit the river ... I like the look of longview tops if the wind and rain stays away. If anyone has a estimated time to the hut that would be appreciated. Cheers

    @Boylo

    Longview will be bloody cold this time of year , take good warm gear.

    Could easily get snowed in too.

    The hut is at about 1200m

    If the wind picks up you'll get blown off the hill too.

    Should take a couple or three hours to reach the hut.

    Longview's great when the weathers good. Beautiful country. Don't make the same mistake as me and go up too late in the day, cloud comes in pretty thick. I lost the marker pegs in the tussock, made a makeshift camp in the tussock and woke up 150m from the hut. Never forget that night.....didn't get wink of shut eye in the wind/rain/etc. Bloody experience to say the least!

    No worries Boylo

    Needn't worry about a fireplace ....... It's enough dry wood to burn that may be the problem.

    Cheers
