Samba Hunting Australia
Hello to everyone,
We had a weeks solid hunting in Victoria's High country and had a bit of luck in FINALLY getting a chance at getting a shot away (to you dirty minded lot that isn't what I mean) Happen to chance upon a nice stag and belted him with the 308 Norma. As it was he came out from the timber after we spotted a doe some 15 minutes earlier and sat and glassed for a period. I hadn't fitted the March scope as the mounts did not turn up in time so I put the old 6x compact Leupold on for the trip. We ranged down the gully from where he had appeared at a shade under 500 yards. (496) and not thinking much of it began to glass the surrounding area when he appeared. To be honest I shit when I first saw him and a quick look through the scope, then put the cross hairs high on the shoulder and let rip. The stag lunged forward and dropped into the reeds, the 200 grain Swift A-Frame worked a charm. Not being much of a story teller it was all over and we made our way down to where the stag lay. The strange thing was the roar or the shot up the valley seemed to carry for a very long time as I watched to see if the stag would rise and run after he was hit.
Anyway here are a few picks,Attachment 10497Attachment 10497Attachment 10497enjoy.
