Sika Rut 2014
Hi Guys
Wapati Block dates are possibly too busy for me to get away from work so looking into doing a trip for a Sika. Not after a trophy, a chance at a representative head would be nice.
Thinking last 2 weeks in April
Possibly 6 people.
Would like the option of some fishing, not essential but a nice too have
Need fly in and Fly out, 1 party member not able to carry heavy loads any sort of distance.
Hut would be nice but not essential we have gear to camp if needs be.
It seems that some blocks allow hounds and could be interested in flying the bitch up for a sniff at some new deer.
Have looked at helisika website, way too many choices. I am sure some will be eliminated as they booked already but some pointers as to what blocks are good would be handy.
Pretty green when it comes to this stuff so all help appreciated.
Cheers
Dino

Check out Chris Crosse at Puketitiri Dino. He has good private blocks for Sika. Wink

Yea Id ring around the operators first, think you will find that most of the helisika blocks are booked up back to back. No doubt there will be a few spaces but it will quickly narrow down your options.
Almost anywhere through the Kaimanwas/Kawekas gives you a good chance at a representative head. All of the DOC huts provide reasonable roar hunting but then there is no exclusivity with them, if you want fishing then a few of the huts down the Mohaka or Ngaruroro have reasonable fishing.

6 is probably too many for most spots and Chris will not fly your dog if she has not got the kiwi/avian aversion tickets.

Cheers for the heads up re the dog, not something I would have thought of.
