Size of your hunting knife?

I have a small selection depending on what/where we are hunting .
First there's the BK7 which I would call my survival knife (still for sale by the way...) 7 inches of blade capable of splitting wood rounds ...

But my hunting knives are all Knives of Alaska brand . My go-to knife for hunting that is usually the only one I use for everything from skinning to boning is the 'alpha wolf' . Around 3in blade length . The bigger knife that I also carry on my belt with the alpha is around 5in blade length but more for camp general duties .

And if we are going out for several days then I also take these two ...
A small hatchet , around 2 1/2 in blade with hook , excellent for speeding up skinning with the hook and breaking ribs etc and it's sharp enough to shave with . The second wee one is 2in wrap around blade perfect for skinning and fleshing skins .

But by far my favorite is the alpha wolf and is the knife that is my definate go-to and will never be replaced except maybe with the stag handled version . They also make a boning version of that knife which I am seriously considering buying with a more appropriate shaped , pointed thinner blade .
So if someone buys the BK that will be my first stop .

KOA make great knives. Excellent value for a jump up to a decent edge holding steel without breaking the bank.

Attachment 177819these are my (lucky knifes) left one I brought for my twin brother a few years ago and the black one I found on my first ever tahr hunt. I did try to find the owner of it but to no avail. I now take both the knifes with me on every hunt as I’m not 100% sure what one is the lucky knife as both have been with me on my 10 chammy and 13.5 bull tahr any every culling trip In between!

The painful thing about all of it is that it wasn't even the knife in question. He did the deed with an off the shelf crappy kitchen knife. What the fuck relevance does him owning a hunting knife have.

Currently using a Bahco. I have a fixed blade Gerber which is a similar size to the Bacho but weighs a lot more and no sharper.

Taff, I would like one of those UK style gralloching ? / gutting knives for opening deer out but did you really pay 550+ uk pounds for it as per their website?

I have a confession, I New these boys when they started out making knives, and helped design the Cael AR ,it stands for adrian/ Richard. The one in the picture was a leaving present from Richard when I left the Uk, it is one of three made using a kershaw steel, they usually use AEBL, so no is the answer, would I pay that much for a knife , that’s a bit like asking a lady her age.

Taff, I’d like one of that pattern but might have to get it made locally. Even in the uk those prices would be steep but a 2:1 exchange rate they are 1100-1500 $!

Nice blade never the less.

Ps don’t need to ask the age but good to get a look at their mum to know what your getting!

Eaglehawk knives. Made in Australia. Takes the same scalpel blades as the Havalon. No need to ever sharpen a knife again. One blade will dress a couple of large deers.

And if it was taken from the shelf in countdown kitchen knife would be a better description . I have never seen a hunting knife sold in a supermarket myself .
But can't have people thinking a kitchen implement is dangerous can we ....
Much betterer to blame the guys who also own rifles .... in a subconcious way of course .

I have a few knives which range from 5 inch all purpose to a 2 inch caping knife and then theres a 6 inch bird and trout.
