    Southern access corridor walk

    Hi all

How long does the southern access corridor walk take over poronui station with a pack. I’m young and fit. Planning a couple days over the break

I looked online and it said it was about 12km to the hut so about 3 -4 hours depending on fitness levels, if it's hot take water quite exposed so I have heard.

The southern access corridor is a different track to the poronui track. Poronui to Oamaru hut 3-4 hours depending on how long you get sidetracked through poronui watching deer. No huts on the southern access corridor off desert road.

Which brings me to the followup question, I was looking around for an easy walk and fly camp for a night or 3 that First week of Jan as well.
    Probably 2 of us.
Does anyone have a heads up on animal numbers / condition in this area. Southern Access Corridor. We would only be going 4-6km up and then hunting the slopes down to the northern boundary by the creeks.
