Question Spotted a good stag - will he still be there next week?

Spent a couple days in Spot X on the weekend and spotted a shooter stag. Put the stalk in but he gave us the slip. Looking to return this weekend for a 2nd shot at him.
Is it reasonable to expect him to remain in the same catchment, or even same localised area? FYI we didn't spook him on the stalk, think he just slipped back into the bush to park up for the day before we could get within range.
I would assume he'll be around given it's post rut and he probably won't want to wander too far. Just keen to hear other peoples experience with this.

was he there because of hinds being there or was he there because it was a good feed area - they will always be there if its a good feed area and more so if its a nice quiet spot

Depends on if any other hunters get in there this week too.

If you don't go back, he'll definitely be there.
If you do go back, then he's probably gone.
    Hope that helped

I think the only rhyme or reason with deer or any animal for that matter, is pressure and food...
Hunt the place like you're expecting him to be there but realize that he's probably gone

We're heading back in anyway, was just hoping for some reassurance we wouldn't be wasting our time. Based on the recent weather etc, I would say he would remain relatively undisturbed. Fingers crossed

If there are plenty of hinds in residence then he'll probably hang around. If not he'll be very transient, moving around a large area. This is normal for stags to cover wide areas in search of cycling hinds.
