Unfortunately couldn’t find a good sika this roar, but had a half day hunt yesterday morning out Clements into a new area I’ve been learning recently and found this guy wandering around below me in some crown fern so took the opportunity to take a clements road stag after a couple last weekend outsmarted me. I managed to bugger up all my limited chances with Reds during the roar but had some awesome stalks but a bit of bad luck at the end - was happy enough to be out in the bush.

I shot this wee guy in the Blueys a couple of weeks ago, nothing to write home about but a big day on the hill and was really happy to get him just before dark after covering a lot of ground.

No luck in the thick of the roar but managed to bag this fella just before Anzac Day. Roared him in from about 400m out. Was holding a fair few hinds and spikers. Left a nice young 8 to replace him.

Think twice taking a shot in the Ruahine… 602m shot turned into a 6h30 recovery…

Ok wrong word but Wouldn’t it damage the meat if rolled down few hundred meters?

A few bumps would soften up the rut meat.

Top three pics were from this last weekend, Tararua tops. First 12 I've actually seen, still buzzing!

Bottom fella was nelson lakes tops for the roar.

Sometimes the scrub and bush is so dense it could be possible to lose it or it could get hung up on a tree top or some other nasty place which makes it even harder to get out.
Mind you I would still through it over the cliff and take my chances.

not really.....we bash steak with meat hammer before cooking to break up fibres/release tension....a good roll down the hill might at worst break bones that cut stuff but havent had any issues when its happened to roll a long way myself.
