Southern Kaimanawas: VERY DRY.
Boys are way up high, into all the herbs etc for calcium and the greener tussock grasses for fat.
Girls and yearlings are down on the lower bush edge, and high altitude river/creek flats. Other than the dopy yearlings that were out 2 hours prior to dark, they were only coming out when just on dark, or hours later.
LOTS of sign on those high altitude creek flats, but horribly lumpy, ankle twisting ground, esp when you have dropped an animal on last light![]()
