This poor bugger will be doing it hard right now, with the weather coming in. I hope the SAR teams manage to find him alive.

I would imagine he has gone for a unplanned swim probably in the Tasman sea now unfortunately :(
This is one of the main reasons why I am against letting anyone and everyone into the country to hunt and tramp in our back yard for free.
They should at least be forced to take insurance out before they are allowed anywhere on their own.
It can be hard enough for people that know it well.
More tax payer dollars being spent.
Hope they find him safe and sound.

Plb given for hire with insurance cover.
Hope he is ok
That's quite a few days since he was last seen and three days over due, but in saying that I have said to my mrs if I'm not back out by the end of the third day of trips due day out, then you start to panic and ring for help. And with the little slips I've had lately she got me a PLB last week.
Hopefully for him he's holding up on a track safe with a sprained ankle.
Here's hoping he is wrapped up warm and dry somewhere safe. (Fingers crossed)
It would be cold enough for even the most prepared. I hope the outcome will be good.
Finding a used campsite complete with sleeping bag doesn't bode well. 😦

Hopefully he's hunkered down somewhere.
The Regina is a cold steep bitch of a place, especially going in there by foot. Fingers crossed for a good outcome.
She was cold at 1200m last night on the coast, I can vouch for that
Agree , hope he's OK. Don't think insurance would help, more overseas people really don't get how changeable our weather can be.

Not only overseas people. I shudder every time my sis in law goes out with her 'tramping' group, and I use that term lightly. They thought it was a good idea to go when Cyclone Cook was hitting us. Luckily it was a fizzer, but they aren't prepared enough for my liking
Being a Swede, I hope he is used to dealing with this climate. Fingers crossed.
True. If he had an "inreach" they can be externally "pinged" for their location if they are switched on and in one piece. Better than a PLB but only in some ways, I would imagine their SOS feature is a little slower to get a reaction as it goes to their rescue centre first then they pass detail's on to RCC here then up date the user on whats happening and so forth
Not good. Get home soon Hans
Did they find this guy?
The news article about the Australian father who fell and died . They made reference to Hans who had died in same area . I wondered same , must have missed it if they found the body ?

I noticed that too Munsey, hadn't heard that they had recovered him though?
I agree. Mind you when people have an accident and die in the bush it's often decades before they are stumbled across. Still bad journalism though.
Yep really bad....can you imagine if you are next of kin and read that:omg:
