    Tahr ballot

I've never shot a tahr and whent to the tahr show, was talking to James scott about the ballot blocks . Off course he's going to talk them up because you pay him to fly in there . In saying that he comes across genuine . Two questions how hard is it to win a ballot ? And are they worth it ? . Cheers Munsey

James is a genuine bloke and wouldnt care if someone flew with him or not tbh.
All the blocks will produce good animals. I am happy if I get one of 3 that I find consistent. If I dont get a block I know a few good spots outside the ballots that are just as good if you are into trophys.
If you just wanna blow a thar over there are heaps of places in the central south island to do so.

    James is a great bloke.

I still havent met him in person, the weather hasnt been on my side!

I drew a block - ask him if it was ok, he said, yeahhhhhhh its alright. I said we were thinking about flying to kea flat instead, he said very good idea haha.

If you didnt draw a good block, im pretty confident he would hook you up with an ok spot anyway.

If you want a Tahr give me an email. Theres heaps far closer to chch than way over there!

    Chris

How many times a year would James Scott get asked which blocks are the best to go for? Probably every load and phone call at a guess.

I am tending to agree with him.
As of the 1st June they can be helihunted. So if you dont get one at the end of may (to early anyway)
    Its a waste of time.

The non ballot blocks must get thrashed for most of the year by ground hunters and aath during the season. Karangarua and Whataroa areas would have hunters in there all the time wouldn't they?
