    Tahr cull ? Extermination? What’s happening ?

    What’s the latest ? Has there been a reduction to Sage’s extermination numbers ? To something reasonable ?
    Heard brief bit in news at lunch today saying “cull of 10,000 about to start” ?
    If that’s 10,000 on top of the 5-6000 they took out over winter then it sound very much like the 17,000 number Sage came out with. Wtf ?

    There was a fatal heli crash just out from Wanaka airfield this morning. One report suggested it was a Hughes 500 with DoC staff onboard for the beginning of the tahr cull.

    Terrible news whatever your view on the tahr cull is...

    Listening to this unfold today was so very sad. Condolences to the Wallis Family and Nick's wife. Hard times ahead.



    One would assume the Tahr cull will be put on hold for a while.

    Yes regardless of our views on the cull this sort of thing sucks, RIP all those involved. On the news tonight the cull has been put on hold till more information about the accident has come out.....I thought the cull was on hold till they sorted out the management plan, guess I got that wrong.

    I heard one of the DOC guys was from Twizel office... I won't name names but I had spoken with him a couple of times. He was really helpful, truly devastating.
