If you never get into the backcountry there are a few farms around where you can see tahr, including one in Twizel right next to a public walking track on the outskirts of town. Probably farm bred as they basically ignore you if you stop to have a look

there are about 20 tahr in paddock right beside peel forest township...they have been there for years,they were funny as heck the other day after a shower of rain,jumping and twisting around in air like frollicking lambs. really good place to stop and see what they look like or take photo.

Might have to put a pin in the map so we can find them because it might be all we get to look at in the future if we drop this ball and don't follow it through to the end.
