Not on the coast. It has been either screaming easterly or pissing down. They may have got one day in at the most and the guys I know who were going to do it, didnt fly on the good day we had as far as I know.

And thats exactly the way labour have been doing with anything slightly controversial. Get in quick and do the damage before any democratic process can take place and is ruled they cant do it. To late once its done, get a little smack on the hand, carry on until the next one.
Was talking to a bloke yesterday who reckons the damage to the Tahr Herd has already been done with last years cull. A lot of flying recently and they are not seeing any nannies/juveniles, only bulls. They start shooting this week. Reading the comment about the Rangitata I fear it is too little too late with the Court Case, unless like last time with the Save Our Tahr campaign a Moratorium can be attained to let the numbers build up. A very sad time for Game Animals in NZ and I fear this will be but the beginning. Remember Molesworth Staion and the Deer/1080 "Experiment" and now Tahrmageddon 2. Hard times ahead for the Hunting Community and the animals. Without getting political it is now or never for us all to stick together and be very vocal about it.
The reduction in nannies has been evident to me since AATH became legal. It has definitely got worse since last year. I agree the damage has already been done. If the cull is stopped we may get a few good years chasing bulls but after that I think we will see a problem.
Was out last week with some old mates for a week in an area I havent hunted thar before. We seen quite a few bulls around the 12" mark. I seen 1 that may have gone 13 and a half.
I only seen one nanny all week. Not many seen at all by 3 others. Bulls still hanging out together etc. Asked buy a pilot who didnt fly us in, how we got on and when I said we seen fuck all females he said Ha! I can show you a video of us tonging them up in there from last year.

Yep no nannies means no breeding , over the next 3,4,5 years the remaining Bulls will get picked off and the Tahr herd will be in a very sad state. I fear also that a huge amount of damage has already been done by the previous Cull .
Out of interest I emailed Swazi through their website to see if I could get a comment out of them. Didn't really expect a response so was surprised that this arrived in my inbox today.
Hi Gary
Thanks for your email.
We’re about ready to release our fundraising efforts to help with campaign, this should go out today or tomorrow.
I have just actually flown out of the mountains where I spent the last 7 days Tahr hunting, to say its a real passion of mine is an understatement.
We will also be actively seeking various media to talk to about the plan from the Minister.
Thanks again for your email mate, we will fight this and we will prevail.
Kind regards
Nga Mihi

For all of you that don’t do face book, it’s s peaceful drive up the Mt Cook Road on the 17.
Duh, it’s the 19, not 17 of July.
Any updates on today?
No news but the video been posted from camera man dave on red stag hunters club is worth a watch. Someone more tech might be able to put up a link. I know Dave is on here but can't think of his user name.
Very well spoken Dave. thank you
Shame we don’t have a update , they were in court at 10.00am
Hopefully it all went well, really hanging out for the result. Maybe even to hear how they think it went
Decision comes out Friday. Just gunna have to wait and see. I wouldnt be getting my hopes up.

No I dont. It is just an opinion and a feeling I have. We should have a result or more info on Friday.
Sorry, I just dont trust the courts or the government to do anything right these days.
Hopefully we have got a decent judge in this instance and I am wrong.

I seen that. He presented very well and was spot on. I actually met the guy and the crew a month or so ago before they and I flew in the hills. Weather was taking a while to clear. Had no idea who that crowd was. Thought they were just probing me for info so I avoided them like the plague [emoji1787]

We were on the main divide last week. Saw a few tahr but the lack of nannies and wee ones was blatantly obvious. I wont quote exact numbers as there are others with intentions different to ours who read this forum, but there was a healthy and sustainable population of bulls and I saw 6 nannies for the entire week..
Well lets all be optimistic at least the hunting community have banded together and are trying to do something about it , regardless of outcome I think we the Public are doing our best and we will keep fighting for all our Game Animals now and in the future for the next Generation of Hunters
I agree.
I did hear a tidbit from the case and it is hearsay for now. But when presented to doc that businesses will suffer as a result of the cull they said "We don't care"
If this is proven true then we know what type of society they and the government want. It's fuckin scary.

So next would be to get a petition to get rid of eugenie sage from parliament, surely 50000 tahr supporters would sign that. Just to get rid of her
If this is true it’s a sad state of affairs when “we don’t care” is an appropriate defence in court, kind of like when you tell one of your kids off and they say “but she did it”.
As someone who has only found a real passion for tahr this year it would disappointing if this goes through. The introduced species defence is such bullshit they have been here 116 years. They are and should be forever part of our landscape
Apparently the comment is public? I cant find anything and have spoken to people that should know and they dont. So not sure now if it was during the court case or some other venue that doc commented. Will try and find out more.

The statement that the judge "may announce his decision late Friday" is never a good sign. Govt's always announce bad news "late Friday pm" ?! GRRRRRRRR !
I had the opportunity to spear tackle her a few months ago at work.
But my boss and the hr person had a quiet word with me before her visit......
My recollection from the judgement that was delivered in the LNIRDF vs DoC case was that while DoC weren't completely thrashed from a legal perspective, the comments as to their conduct certainly weren't flattering.........kinda expect something similar this time too, so those leading the charge on our behalf are hopefully anticipating that, and have a plan to exploit any negative observations.
DoC's lemon sucking attitude that no non native flora and fauna should exist in national parks is grossly bigoted nonesence IMHO because if their fanatical stupidy was carried through "broadbrush" there would be no trout or salmon or mallard duck, canada geese, or human beings either for that matter. All ski lodges, chairlifts, doc huts and tracks should also be removed. Tahr hunters frequent areas very seldom traversed by "DoC's tourists. The obsessed waste of the Tahr resource is pathetic pc incompetence leading to unbridled wasteful slaughter and very narrow minded.
no weeds either....
Just saw an add for the project On tv3 At 7 they have the tahr story on Tonight be interesting to see what there take is
Should have known better to think it would be a good story. It’s good to get it out there in the public but for that “dick head” host at the end to say he is on the side of the native plants and IF they are eating them. How about you find out all the facts before u open your gob.
Yes. He is very "religious"
Note the comment from Tahr foundation spokesperson, that DoC notified at midnight submissions could be made snd then closed the submission time allowed to only 48 hours. Dirty dirty dirty baggages.
It was rubbish heaps of footage of tahr motoring around filmed/chased by helicopters.
No real facts, nothing to make people think wow what neat animals.
No mention under threat in Himalayas.
Spokesperson from Tahr Foundation did her best but they had her on a skype/zoom call poor definition no real intro.
Watched it, coulda been worse.
Also coulda been a whole lot better.
But on the whole not TOO negative about tahr.
The DoC farcical public submission process clearly EXEMPLIFIES the disdain NZ Government Agencies, their staff and the NZ Parliamentary Ministers ( in this instance E. Sage) for New Zealanders and democratic fair play. The government obviously regards it's own citizens as no more than plebescite ants to be stood upon. DoC appears in this light to be a security threat to New Zealanders way of life.
What are you going to do about it "Miss transparent Prime Ministeress"? And you Mr Muller fulla; and you G Generale?
Oh of course, how silly would one actually be to assume you would do any bloodything at all ay.

Few articles coming out about deer numbers lately. Guess “awareness” is being increased to help justify future reductions of the next introduced species.
Before i went down south this year i contacted a few Doc offices and none of them could give me animal numbers in general areas. In fact they were bloody useless with general info when it come to hunting
