Tahr virgin
Advice needed, want to get my first
When am i best to chase them, with it being winter will they be down lower out of the snow or is serious snow equip like ice axe and crampoons needed?
I do want one with a winter skin but dont have that much experience in the alpine
Where would you send a tahr nooob to get his first bull? dont have a 4wd
I really want to get after them this year

Late in the year is the best time.

They will be down low in spring and if you catch them early enough, will still have their winter coat.

Often in the snow they go a bit higher. They tend to live on the really steep ground because it looses the snow first. As said above Labour weekend is a good time. Bulls are down low in the scrub. Be careful going much earlier in spring because of avalanche danger.

Me too, I haven't fucked one yet either.
Drive in to Tasman glacier and go from there? Heard quite a few get nabbed from around that area.

if you think your going to fly into a spot book early. We went in last labour weekend (only walked), but we were limited by where we could go as a lot of huts were filled up with hunters.
We did ok anyway. Got my firsty
