Im sure you've got a few PM's by now as they are all closely guarded secrets. Go any where on public land, and go early is my advice.
Go down number 3 road all the way to the end and then the road at the end on the left is called Demeter Rd follow it until the end where the carpark is then the rest is up to you.Quote:

Update boys... It appears DoC has been employing cullers (16 with dogs reportedly) to decimate the fallow population in the Te Puke hills. My cousin and I entered all three popular road ends yesterday and tramped about fifteen kms over the day, only to find one antler-bashed tree, one small patch of month old droppings and two questionable hoof prints in mud. Summary, if you don't know where there are always deer in this block, don't waste ANY time or money getting yourself there to hunt them. I don't believe they're even there this summer

They will still be around, cullers will never get them all. Im pretty sure that cullers that do get put into the Tepuke hills are usually employed to cull the goats too rather then the deer.
The private land surrounding the Tepuke hills holds alot of deer over spring/summer so its possible the lack of sign is due to the animals moving off to graze on the farms.
I may have to get off my arse and see for myself :D
cullers went through a few years ago for goats they shot very few deer they didn't get all the goats either its heavily hunted all the time

I can drive to any other DoC land in the central north island and see sign immediately from the road end car park and that to me is motivation to hunt for deer. I've never been keen on hunting for a needle in a hay stack, so anyone who is, is welcome to it :) Good luck
