So has anyone here tried to renew their licence to include Te Urewera NP ?

Hmmm. It is no longer a national park according to the link
Eh? My last permit is still current so will have to check it out?
This could be interesting.
Seems that one will have to apply to the Board for a permit and not DOC
this is all over the other forum. this link might speed you guys up
LiveUpdater Article
Hmmm interested to see how easy / difficult the process becomes.
shit I need to apply for one again how do you go about it now
@Rushy does the Te Urewera cover where we go ?
$170 million to the crown? that means taxpayer money aye?
what a load of shit
Got mine on 30th June, and no problems. Valid until 29th Oct. It just says "Te Urewera" - no mention of National Park.
im sure its in mine just re newed it a couple of days ago
will have to check
If you already have a 'valid' one, ive 'heard' if you renew it, it will go through again......worth a try, ive never hunted there!!!!
ok tried renewing mine but te urawera isn't on it any more ive just sent an email to the board so ill see how it goes.. im not after your secret spots but any one got a good place to try that's a similar distance from Auckland that I can try being able to camp would be an advantage as well. Ill keep you informed how this application goes
i got an email back and basicly no permits are being issued until they figure out how they will work it :(
Yip just renewed my north island permit and TU has dropped off.
Bummer....good job i dont hunt there.....hope they dont turn it into a 'goatfuck'.....:XD:
Well my current permit which includes TU doesn't expire until mid Jan, we will be having our annual waikaremoana trip in Nov, so stuff them I have a current permit and will be going and hunting regardless. I knew this bullshit would cause issues.
Agree with Scouser, this is going to turn into a goatfuck very fast (and he has never been there :wtfsmilie: )
We will have to pay for permits. I think that is a given
Hut fees will not go to maintenance - most likely shares in Waikato or Tui
Helicopter prices will rise as they will get hit harder for landing rights
Access roads will be tolled by locals who will also charge a compulsory windscreen cleaning fee
A damn shame if such a beautiful place falls in this direction
From my heart I truly hope it will remain status quo
I just got told where to get permits from and that not much is going to change but I dont know if its true
So cough Toby??? whats the gen?
I heard you call some guy named Glen mitchel? Something or rather. in whakatane and he'll sort you out. I was told but forgot. I think he works for doc
I have no idea if its true but its from a local that lives up waikaremoana so yeah. Im no good at repeating info as it goes in one ear and out the other haha
Try putting a finger in one of your ears. Should fix that problem for you
Glenn is who I got the email from part of it said how to do the permit is currently being considered and being given time to resolve at this point in time we are unsure when that process will be completed
Guys... I posted on the other site all about it after I rang round to see what was happening.(which is currently down completely)
The basics are on the 20th of September the te Urewera National park ceased to exist. no permits currently being issued but any already issued are valid. Heli-hire Ltd is business as usual,I emailed them to check.

On Hunting Permits for Te Urewera
Talked to Glen.
There is a website you will be able to go through to get Rifle hunting permits soon.Doc will also be able to issue the permits at that time but will only be going through that website as well.
The website is Ngai Tuhoe Iwi Go to top left and mouse over Te URU Taumatua, then on Te urewera - permits.
The site is up but NO PERMIT OPTION YET,as they have not sorted out a bunch of issues yet.
Glen said nothing access or recreational wise will change, except possibly pig dog access.
a time frame on when this happens was not given.
Anyone wanting to know more Contact the board now in charge
Te Urewera Board - Glen Mitchell - 07312 9659
Hope this helps.
Just seen this. No hunting for now.
