    The ten minute deer skinner

I thought this may interest a few people tenminutedeershinner.com

Ben Frits is the owner of the company that sells the Skinner in the USA well worth a look if you are hunting for meat.

    Cheers Rob

wait, let me think about this.

you've shot a deer, taken care to gut it cleanly, carried the whole carcass out to the car park, nek minute

i want to eat the meat, so I am going to stretch every single muscle in the animal to hell and back...

    tasty, yum - NOT

kiwi39 showed me a trick of hanging a lamb on a hook from the pelvic girdle, not the hind legs, less stretching = much more tender & tasty meat.

Um, use a hook, hang the carcass by the pelvic girdle once you've gutted it and cut out the poop chute

Giving it some juice from the fence shortly after bleeding it also helps

Theres a special gambril .. the meat board tested them years ago but they were not put into use as they didnt fit with chain killing and butchery.

the idea is that the carcass is hung from the hips - unloading the back legs ( which just happen to be the best cut on the beast)

Just think - if you were to stretch a muscle and then load it up in that position with the weight of the carcass - and =THEN= allow rigor mortis to set in and have the carcass hang like that for x days ... wouldnt really make for meat which is as tender as it could be would it ?

the electric fence tip was given to me by a sheep farmer .... apparently it completely relaxes any muscle tension in the carcass.

The proof of the pudding is in the eating ... eh EBF ???

Getting the knife into the spinal cord and make it twitch.
Helps pump blood out of veins and relaxes muscles.

As for the skinning. Im gonna try that after the next social club trip. My hands ache after skinning out 5 or 6.

The only thing is I'd connect on the front of the vehicle and drive backwards so the exhaust is not blowing over the meat and you can see better.

Pretty sure the butcher man (Darren ??) uses a boat winch to skin them in his shop.

All the commercial abattoirs use a hide-puller (big drum, wrap a chain around it tied to the skin and it turns around pulling the skin off) which is basically the same as the principal.

We use a quadbike with a chain attached to the ears, you do have to skin back to the shoulders and do the Y-cuts....then attach and drive off fast...it works great, even takes skin right out of the hoofs, clean as a whistle!
