Thats correct Bruce.
The first question I ask is budget and once I know that I look at bang for buck with reliability and servicing for the loot they have.
I also stick with brands that have a long history in nz and if possible a no fault warranty eg leupy and bushnell for analog optics.
I got asked to organise some binos for my new to hunting neice.
I sorted a pair of bushy 10x42 Dx engage and couldn't believe how good they were for $400.
Tech is moving that quick with electro optics it is hard to know when to jump in and buy.
It's a good time to be buying this sort of tech as so competitively priced and almost at the point of to much choice in brands which isn't a problem until support disappears.
Any way my 2 cents
