You should definitely always wear blaze in public land over here, lots of idiots with guns that shoot anything that moves.
It depends on where you are in the state, the eastern side of Victoria that holds sambar you can hunt in National Park which is the public land where we were. On my side of the state (West) hunting National Park is illegal, which is handy because it's where all the deer live.
Deer are not pests here and are classed as a game animal - because of this we have to pay for a game license each year to be able to hunt them, similarly to quail and ducks. It's only like $40 a year or something I think for deer.

Ah yep. Probably more hunting land per size of the country here then? What with all the regional parks on top of the national parks (fiordland in particular) makes up a decent percentage of the land here.
