Trying to find a poem?

Trying to find the words and name of a New Zealand poem written for a hunter.

It goes I think by the name of ''When I'm gone'' or ''When I go''.

Quite a neat poem from memory and may be suitable to be read at my dads service next week.

When you leave me can you leave me
Where the big trees bend and sigh
Where theres birdsong in the morning
And a river running by
I'll find a big rock overhang
Enough to keep me dry
With a gap or two amongst the trees
So I can see the sky
When you leave me can you leave me
With a breeze upon my cheek
Where the crystal clear bush water
Murmurs gently in the creek
I'll hope the place you leave me
Will have leaves to make my bed
And if I'm in luck there'll be
A mossy bank to lay my head

A billy can or two
And a heap of dry red totara chips
So I can make a brew

just might visit now and then

Hi Ghosts, sorry about your loss, even us old hunters have to watch the sun go down and you are in prime hunting ground. Have been down there a few times chasing the grey ghosts and it is a great place. I was allays trying to find a poem or the words to it myself called ( Pull up another dog mate for the nights going to be cold. A nz pome I think. Hope your dad did a lot of hunting on the Island.

Burying a Dad.....Such a hard thing. Leaves a unique hole in the heart.

My Dad was a pig hunter. Storys of sneaking past deer to not scare the pigs. Nothing compared to the thrill of his pack of dogs and chasing pigs. Deer where a bit boring to him. But then he had access to huge acreages of Hawkes Bays back country. Tutira, Maungataniwha, Ngatapa, Waireka, Puketeatri to name a few.
He had an awe sum collection of tusks and a few monsters still at home.
His best dog ''Mike'' used to ride on his motorbike with him. Mike insisted on riding on the tank but as the speed increased so did the tears out of his eyes and into Dads face.
So to stop it the old man fitted a pair of goggles to Mike which fixed the problem for both.
One can only imagine the looks of motorists looking in the rear view mirror with a muddy bloody pig hunter and dog complete with Goggles pig on the carrier blasting along.
There's a story about him and a few pics In ''Snow Angens'' Book ''Shooting with Snow''.
Was a member of Napier Deerstalkers from nearly its start and part founder of Hawkes Bay Antique arms assn.
He helped Judge the annual Bay view pig hunting comp.
Many are the trips he took us on eelling, trout fishing and possum and rabbit shooting. I never did go pig hunting with him but he gave me my own love of hunting and the back country.
