That's if the story is correct, didn't think anyone would be stupid enough to kill the birds and then hand them in. Also I find it hard to believe anything that Twig and Tweet say.

"There are clearly some instances of individual kea, in particular in areas where they're used to novel food, being killed - but really, that's about it."

Not "individual". Liars hiding behind supposedly poor grasp of the english language.

From memory, that was 3-4 out of 10 radiotagged kea that got killed by 1080. By extrapolation, that is 40% of all kea in those areas.

Asking Landcare research to do the poison testing and 'Find' 1080 is like expecting the Police Complaints Authority to find wrong doing in an officers actions.

Too be fair I would suspect some people with a similar but opposite mindset to the eco-nazi brigade could doctor up the evidence somewhat ie bang them on the head and not poisoned.
Desperation and passion can do funny things. Timing just seems odd.
Three different lots of birds still in good nick just happen to be poisoned and found in time for a protest.
X2 on what moa hunter said though. They could've been poisoned but the trustworthiness of the testing facility is potentially suspect.

I do tend to agree that crosses and statisitcs would have been better than bodies, that said faith in the testing process isn't high.
DOC & Ospri's own papers say that they do have a percentage of 'by-kill' so who's enforcing the imprisonment and $100,000 fines there?
Very conveniant that it's aparently illegal to bring evidance of that out of the bush
Perhaps it's not a crime when state sponsored poisoners kill absolutely protected native species ?
