    Velvet buyers needed

I know this might have been brought up before, but here goes, I put some velvet (quite a bit) in with my mates deer farm velvet, but it got rejected as feral as one set of antlers was cut below the pedicle, Does anyone on here know of any "rogue buyers" out there? any hepl would be appreciated cheers

Good info about where to cut. I just got this 9 pointer in the Marlborough Sounds and cut below the pedicle. The velvet is in a mates freezer now waiting on a buyer who buys velvet and hard antlers. He will be through the lower North Island between now and May next year. No other details yet however if I find out more I'll let you know. Me thinks I will make another cut above the pedicle before then...Name: Nov17Stag.jpg

Always seems like such a wast shooting them in the velvet , I ping the odd one but only if they are never going to be a trophy beast was watching 2 last weekend & made the mistake of watching them a little to long in the end I decided it was to nicer morning to be slaying velvet stags , defiantly going soft or maybe wiser im undecided lol , unluckily for the lesser beast my mate was feeling hungry .that one could have grown into something nice though ? no shortage of feed by the looks of it .

The one above would have never amounted to anything so good one to shoot I reckon.

I wish I could find a yearling or 2. Just stags and hinds everywhere here at the moment. Haven't seen deer numbers like it is locally in my life.

Another week and a few young ones might be wandering around after mum gives them the ass.

I always laugh at the whole "find a yearling or a spiker" to shoot instead... what's to say that yearling or spiker wasn't going to grow into a real ripper trophy?? Even if it was a yearling hind, what's to say she isn't carrying the genes to breed a real ripper trophy???

    Ditto here too
I been watching up to 7 animals at daylight every morning (which I not complaining about as it is g8 to see) but still not struck a yealing Stag (spiker) or Hind to take for meat as yet.
Pigs have been hitting the deck but - to many of the scrawny skungy things about - most with litters too, but have to cull out sadly for young ones :-(

Understand the above comments. It was a dilemma at the time. Would have rather left him and probably would have in the Tararuas where I normally hunt.

If there was a yearling with it, I would have shot that.
No venison in the freezer for about a year.
The place also gets hammered by the locals spotlighting apparently so if it wasn't me it would have been in someone else's freezer by now (it was on DOC administered land)

    Hay - go for it
Be nothing wrong with that meat
As we said back in the 80's "if it moves shoot it - if its standing still - cut it down

Why does this feel like a terribly bad deja vu??? Is such idiocy simply inbred and not unlearnable???

@Boaraxa your getting soft. Bloody southern hill billy. Deer are there to shoot so just shoot the cunts. Dont feel guilty. It's why they are here. They still taste good.

Cut the velvet before you cut the throat or if its bled internally cut velvet then put a good smear of blood on the bottom of the velvet, most buyers like it if think they have plenty of juice in them.
