Thread: Wallaby hunting for the kids

Hi all

I was just wondering if anyone had advice on gaining access to some easy country to start the 8 year old daughter hunting wallaby on(not after anyones spot x). We are currently in the process of moving down to CHCH due to work from around the Palmerston north area and I have a lot of hunting experience on both islands

any information is greatly appreciated

Any of the DOC blocks around Waimate carry a few. You can park anywhere off the track, walk 500m, and enjoy a few shots. The golden hour either side of sunrise/set see's a few around. During the day, have a good glass around, a snooze, then another good glass. Depending on pressure, the odd one will be around.
Depending on where you go, you can take a device to keep ya daughter occupied, while you catch up on sleep

Thanks Oraki I have heard that waimate is the place to go

Just don't forget your bright and hi-viz around there. there are always a lot of people shooting and many who just shoot from their quads. I have had good luck during day light this time of year. they will be in the guts where it is bushy.
