Here's why I prefer soda ash aka washing soda aka sodium carbonate. Persil bottle showing spills under UV light. Check out those UV reflecting brighteners! Apparently they do reduce the amount of UV that reaches your skin, so they aren't all bad.

Edit... And real men can do laundry... it's the first skill I mastered in the army!
