weathering gear
As a youngster, when rabbiting, the old boys always advised us to weather our snares,so that the smell disipated and the animals didnt smell them as something new in the environment.
taking the wind out of the picture(if only we could) is there anything we could do to lessen the scent.i had mates in the army whos guille suits never came inside.short of leaving all hunting gear outside what else can you do?
rolling in a wallow is not an option thank you very much!!!!!!

I use a 50/50 mix of baking soda and some cheap detergent that doesn't have brightners for my work and hunting clothes.
Its all very well not washing clothes if you don't sweat or get blood on them but I don't live in that world :)

I wouldnt worry about your smell or cloths smell. If you stay up wind it wont matter. If your down wind yiur screwed no mater what you smell of.

I think that is probably good advice for snares, small game ambling along there trail would most likely ground scent something foren given that they are close to the ground and on familiar terrain and smells on a trail(where you would most likely set a snare)
For our big game pretty much if the wind goes straight from you to them your stuffed and no weathering or fancy washing stuff will help you, having said that i do use a sport wash with no scent but more importantly no uv brighteners.

TSK, think you may be upside downy topsy turvy mate.
Talking to an army tracking specialist at the weekend and he was talking of haveing to take everything out with you to avoid leaving scent/tracks etc, to the point of having to bag up your own poo.......YUK. Think I will just stick to keeping the wind in my face as much as possible.
