The guys on the salmon farm reported stags last night. Seems like it has started, in Marlborough at least.

I try and go out slightly pre roar because I take my young son. Absolutely nothing other than a few sika hinds in CNI over the last few days but after the torrential rain we had yesterday a few started firing up late last night. Positive covid test sent us home today so will be missing out this year.

Two days ago west of Chch I went to a spot that was holding a few promising stags last roar. Couple of faint moans early on and then nothing heard all day.

Taking my boy out for his first ever roar trip this weekend so for us two, the roars will be hear at 6.30 tomorrow morning as we head up the track! He missed out on his first trip 2 years ago due to lockdown and last year as well, so now as a 8 year old he's super excited to see what all the fuss is about!

I’ve had colds that are worse.
Yeah it hasn’t hit me bad at all but I have arthritis in my pelvis which it flared up and my son was the one who tested positive while out and thought he would be more comfortable at home recovering because it was raining non stop for 3 days and he was stuck in the tent. Thank god for a decent tent but by day 3 she was struggling to keep the rain out.

Agree we knew our son had been exposed and thought it won’t be too bad isolating and camping but the rain was non stop for 3 days and we decided to go home to finish isolating

In Te Urewera last weekend, only roar was a Rusa at about 580m elevation. Way early I know, and never heard one before but was no red stag. Kept going for an hour at midday, tried a couple of red moans but no interest.

Anyone know if they’re roaring around Turangi (national park) area at the moment?

Have also just come out of West of Chch, got out of the tent for a leak at 4am this morning and there were a couple of stags roaring, not going hard and nothing during the day.
Shut up, get out & start pushing!
