Nooooooooooooooooo! He will hate a 770, probably the worst built rifle i have ever handled, a norinco is better.
Seriously save another couple hundy and get a howa, vanguard, savage, marlin etc.
I promise you will regret getting a 770!
Model 700 is the only remington option here. I have two!
Just in case your not getting the general theme....NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOO......don't buy one. Its like the Lada of the rifle world.
kj
sweet will pass this on is there any good Remington model??
I agree with all above I have a Model 700 and its smooth and crisp, Ive shot with my mates 770 and its a pig of a thing would rather a lee enfield with open sights..Honestly I would.
some good .270's come up on trade me all the time, Remington 700, Tikka t3, savage...buy right the first time and spend just a little bit more money

I've got 1, 3 shots 2 Deer wtf. It's only a rifle and it's light as, suits me.
I wait with baited breath for these potential hassle's and if they happen I will go back to the seller and seek reparation. So far Happy camper here
I didn't use a rest, the second shot was to only support Jazz and encourage her.
it will kill deer.
wat eva
This will kill Deer, but like the 770, it wouldn't be my first choice
Attachment 12887
Where the hell did you get the tripod for that. That is not original so what is it off, an old maxim by the look or a Vickers but certainly not a M1919.
Ahh , if i told you I've have to kill you
Or so the manufactures say.
Remington 770?
Yes it will kill deer and there are worse rifles out there
the 770 was the upgrade to the 710 however the 770 still had the renowned balky bolt cycle, poor trigger feel, a lot of magazines tended to not cycle ammunition well and were even recalled to be fixed....a more important thing is that the bolt lugs lock into the barrel not the receiver and the barrel is hydraulically press fit into the action... making it near impossible for any gunsmith to replace the barrel safely. This is important as a lot of us out there love our rifles and tend to tweek them now and then, better stock, better bedding, trigger pull, nice re-crown, suppressor, then you get into reloading....... then when you want to put a nice tru-flite barrel on.....well you cant, and you have invested money into this rifle that was made to be a throw away.
That being said you could do worse for a first rifle its still a rifle that will shoot reasonably accurate therefore will drop game , but if you miss and go for the follow up shot don't hold your breath
my mate use to come completely out of the aim to reload and would often get a jam up, was rather funny. He was borrowing the rifle and when it came time for him to get his own he was thinking of staying with the 770 (you like what you know) until me and a mate took him to the range to shoot with a 700 model and a tikka t3... He then realised the difference
so maybe get him to shoot a couple different rifles and compare what suites him (my mate went for the Tikka t3 as a more reliable half bolt/"cock" can be machined) yes I said cock...
770's being used for oars and boat anchors so the are multi purpose, but its cheaper to buy the real thing
someone please buy this Remington ADL 7mm08 Blued | Trade Me
cant go wrong
looks like someone just bought it
I looked at the 770 when i was looking for my first centre fire but they looked and felt cheap so spent a little more and bought the model 700 and love it my only regret now is getting the blued instead of stainless but all in all a nice balanced rifle that shoots well.
these days guys want those deer finding rifles........i dont know were to get one but ive managed to train my one to find them, whew otherwise id be looking for another rifle.
Why a remy, Tika, Howa,Browning X bolt all extremely good, you can pay a little more and go for a Sako but you will have a riffle that will not be parted from and more so if the Finnlite, I have various cals and various cutom jobs.As for the 270 you down to preference your choice, 30-06 have look at performance compaired to the 270 .See what others say, your money.
Thanks for all the advice I will pass it on
Model 700 BDL is a nice rifle, I have one although I have changed the stock to what I believe is a rem 700 xcr. I'd recommend that as well, nice gun.
I hunt with a 270, 770 model, my son, son in law and a mate all use the model Remingtom 770 270 caliber and have successful hunts with no hassels in x3 years. I havn't seen any trouble and have kept it tidy and clean whenever I finish. It's been treated bad with waterlogging, dirt, fog and even snow, it has kept working and I can't tell how many animals it's dispatched. Some fine long range shots as well.
I have owned and used a number of other models and have settled very happily on this one. Thank you very much.
I was bought up on the saying, "A poor tradesman blames his tools".............
When he uses a flathead for a chisel.
A flathead is a chisel to us Plumbers
I have never shot a 770 but the Model 7 (particularly) or 700 are great rifles ... almost legendary. Don't forget to tell him to invest in his scope as well ... whatever he spends on his rifle, he should spend on his optics and a decent neoprene sling like the Niggeloh GmbH brand. ATB ... gunzrrr
