current hunting rifle 6.5x55 t3 lite fluted bolt and barrel lightweight rings and bushnell scope ( great for bush hunting wet conditions with rain guard) would be confident on a shot of max 400 metres if it was allowed but last few animals have been between 20 and 230 metres.
bigger caliber the better not necessarily true if you can place your shot right. You don't need a suppressor really, apart from looking after the ears.
If you want to go hunting just go buy a gun that goes bang and kills stuff end of story
