Will a grand do it?
I have set myself a goal of shooting a Fallow buck, Red Stag, Chamois and Thar this calendar year.
I have a buck already, have another crack for a better buck at the end of the month. Missed the stag during my ballot of 2 days, not too worried as I I have a good chance of picking one up during the year.
So..I have a couple spots down south that I can go for a chamois, but was also considering a west coast fly in first week of June after chasing Quail in Tarras Queens Birthday.
My question is will a grand put me and the dog on the hill above the scrub to chase a Chamois, oh yeah and get picked up as well. I am guessing it will but thought I would ask on here before wasting some busy pilots time as I may be way off the mark.

Easy as and with change if it is just you and the dog.
James Scott is your man but I would leave it closer to the time before trying to set it up.
He is pretty busy with things at the moment.

Thanks R93
I figured they would be busy with roar hunters but as long as it's feasible I can do some research and provisional planning.

im always keen for fly in trips if you or anyone else wants to split costs

I'm mad keen on quail but haven't done much since my dog died.
Give me a pm closer to the time and I may be able to put you on to a buck and bull in the same trip.
If you do well you can take me out for a buzz bomb.

I seem to remember a post you are getting another hound...great excuse to get in the high country I reckon.
I have never hunted Quail and neither has Max, she will love it for sure.
Bitch is at my feet now and her arse stinks after giving her deer leg a couple of days ago, have to remember not to do the same when she may have to share a minaret with her dad.
Cheers for the offer Perrazi, will keep it in mind for sure.
i spent 6 days in Fiordland last year all by my lonesome and loved it, that was part of the appeal for this trip I must say. These days with a PLB and radio and sometimes cell coverage makes solo a pretty easy decision.

Wife put a sensible block on the new dog for a year.
I've just started a new gig and she wants things done around the section to dog proof the place as we are no longer on her family farm.
Yeah venison and fresh rabbit will have most GSP's leaving smells around the place that could out last religion. ;)

Good luck with the new Gig and let the count down begin.
Having a hound is a bit of an impediment to getting animals sometimes but i would not trade it for all the world. Magic when it all comes together.
All that and she is great to have round the house as well, until someone knocks on the door, she pretty protective round the house like a few of her breed. hate to be a burglar if she was loose, probably have to scrape them up...lol
