Good luck
Don't set the bar too high. Hope it goes to plan
If you get onto a really hot area that is screaming deer, get your mate to stay where he is while you sneak forward into the breeze. Tell your mate to not to move as you may be gone for 30min but will be no more than 50-100m away (if he cries, you should be able to hear him) Any further and you are moving way too fast. Less noise and movement will be your gain if the deer are grazing/browsing
hope you do mate
Best of luck Initiaz, i lost my virginity this year.....hot barrel mate......
You can never predict what'll happen on a hunt, the only variable you can control is how you hunt.
Deer have a tendency to appear when you least expect it. Keep the wind in your face and your eyes open. Stop regularly and go slowly. If you see a deer and get within range, don't fu*k around, load your rifle, ID your target, get a decent rest and aim for the shoulder, make sure your safety is off and squeeze the trigger...don't pull it ;)
Good luck.
good luck
Good luck! Take heaps of pics and do a write up when you get back, look forward to hearing how it went :)
Good luck, nothing like the taste of venison you've worked hard for and harvested yourself.May the weather gods bless you and the deer co operate.😁
@initiaz Hunt the shit out of sunday mate have the attitude that you will and the worst that will happen is you will come home without venison.Hunt your heart out!!
Best of luck.

Yes good luck bud, If you are as good on deer as you are on goats then you should do alright
May your barrels be hot and your freezer full

Good skills intiaz, looking forward to the trip report.
I'd say it depends if you've seen fresh sign or actual deer at that spot before. If you have, the chances of you bagging something is a lot better.
I never expect to shoot something the first couple of times I go to any new spot. If you do it is a bonus, but I pretty much work on the fact that you have to study an area first, learn where to look, at what time of the day or which season etc, and get to know it, then your chances on subsequent visits improve a lot...
I hope so bro, im sick of calling you the 'goat slayer'! Deer slayer sounds way better ;)
Good luck, wind in ya face, slow and stealthy wins the race :D
I wrote up this post as a refresher for myself for all I have seen, read, stalked etc etc from being out there and from this ofrum.. I expected the comments as above to remind me as well as make me more focused for this hunt...
Weather gods will be pissing quite a bit after mid day so I will have to take advantage of the first light in the early hours and see if it works out...
@Gibo will be working out to my full cap to give you the opportunity to change the said name..lol
Thanks everyone for your gud luck charms.. definitely needed that too
If its raining without wind you still have a good advantage mate go hard all day
bloody shit phone
Ya thats the plan.. open areas during morning and when its raining will be bush stalking...
I had the same problem spent years chasing them got first one 3 weeks ago and got a second last week

Or wading thru mud.... Just a bit wet out there today :D
Brief report
Left home home early and met up with a mate along the way. Got into his 4x4 and drove of. Reached our inteded location before light and waited a while before we could start glasing. The weather has been pissing all week and was the same on Sunday. The forecast was for occassional showers during the morning developing into rain for the later afternoon. We hoped for some sunshine but instead the fog covered the area being blow in and out.
The clearings looked very very appealing to where there should be deer however due to the freezing temp up where we were and the continious pissing down we waited and glassed instead of heading into bush stalking.
No deer seen and it started pouring heavily and we called it the day with plans re-scheduled for the first sunny day this week.. Very sure that the 1st gud sunshine would get them out onto those clearings for a early morning feed as the area has been noted to have a high number of deer around that location.
Sunday came to an end with my list still with a tally of big zero and @Dundee 's knife fairly safe with him for ever... hahahhaha just kiding..
Left a note back there for the deer "watch out" am coming back to get you..
Well done for getting out, at least you didnt 'pull the pin'......................good luck for next time
Bugger
As Scouser said, you still got there. Every little bit is part of the big picture
I reckon youv gone and done it now all this talk of will i get a deer on sunday youv gone and jinxd your self !! something else to keep in mind never ever EVER sharpen your knife the night before a hunt .
No luck for me either, Initiaz. I went into the Tararuas yesterday but it was too cold and wet to stay for long. Saw lots of prints and some promising spots for next time, though.
Lol @Boaraxa i sure sharpen my knife everytime the night before the hunt.. you never know when you might get to use it..
hahahahha but I sure got what you tried to mean...
Now am more and more eager to be out there again... n ya the Sunday is not far away... thats the best part of the post title... it will present a sunday every week till you see some pics on here...
:D
we'll get em next time mate, the more times you try, the more chance you have.
If there are some north facing ridges close to were your glassing mate have a sneek in along those very slowly and quietly providing the wind is in your favour you might have some luck in there two.Good luck next sunday.
jase
And yeah nah you can't have my knife:D
must have been the weekend for it no luck for me either.....to cold for the deersies they must have been tucked up watching reruns of friends or something?!
