Often better pricing than the bigger stores. They have a lot of stock also.
Yes agree, great shop with sharp pricing and always good selection of local branded clothing that isn't in other Outdoor shops. If you have extra time - enjoy the conversation over the counter. I was up there a couple of months ago and came back on the second day to finish the conversation. Just needs a coffee machine in the shop lol.
Jason (Looseunit), also pictured, has brought the business off Ken.
It's come a long way since its beginnings of tussock country sports across the road, to what it is today in its current location.
I have no doubt Jason will take it forward.
Miles is staying on. Some may remember miles from Eides Sports.

Great Place my second home besides the gear and toys you get a good amount of conversation on any topic
i will miss Wilson .. Good luck Jason
Jason should grow a Hulk Hogan mo, and no one would know there had been a change..
Great shop and worth the drive from Palmy.
I belive there has also been a change of staff as well. Another great local store.
Greatest thing I’ve missed since moving away from the area.
All the best to Wilson on his next venture
I’ve been in there a couple of times. Awesome service, knowledgeable staff and good prices. A great place to have a yarn, even if you’re just browsing!
An independently, hunter owner shop that I think we should support as much as we can.
I have only dealt with them over the phone but great old school service
Haven't been there for a few years now but started visiting when he was across the road. Eides were closing around then but as far as being a gun shop their glory days were long gone.
Visited H&F Wanganui once - walked in one door and out the other. Wife was with me and I was exiting whilst she was still in the shop. She asked, "aren't you going to look around?" I said "nay, I'm done." I never went back. Although I will say they had a bit more character when they had their small shop near M10.
Wish him well in his retirement.
These gem shops are few and far between - Magnum in Stratford is one, Taihape Gun Shop another (sadly closing).
We need to support them against the big franchises.
Yea it good living in the same town as them but sometimes it's a bit hard to get out off the shop & they seem to have a money magnet that just seems to take it out off your pocket & in return something lands in your arms lol I did prefer the shop across the road as they used to have couches in there by the counter to sit on and yarn lol. & Jason's bloody good to deal with & yarn to so it's not really gonna be any changes
His gun shop and his wife's coffee shop are on the market for $1,990,000.
Could still find a buyer, mmmm...
