apart from the weather advice, yeah. if its windy then you might not hear the stags roaring and might pay to bush hunt. if you get bluebird days then pays to be hunting all day to maximise that window.
i havent personally hunted from winchcombe but have the surrounding areas. assuming the stags are roaring there is nothing to stop you hunting the ridges and bush spurs right over to cone and neill peak, and down the ridge to neill forks. of course if the weather breaks up in the tussock along to hector you might spot deer in the alpha basin too. the bush faces directly north and south on the map have countours spreading out around the 900 mark so that could be worth a look.
amalgamated is the way and closest. maybe pack your gear for having to walk out or re negotiating a pickup off cone or something? before the new biv was built the odd party did get flown there in previous years so it must be worth a hunt on a good day.
