You're a lucky bugger if you got a ballot . I missed out boo hoo !!
Sorry faregame I don't know the blocks but the place is quite gentle and lousy with animals so you should get on OK
yeah lucky wish that translated into lotto as well - this will be my 3rd time in total - each time to a different block - won sometimes, taken others
yeah rushy, always seen stuff, will depend just how far I can walk - blocks not far from the car park so thats something - either way will still be a nice day out
I drew block 1... Got any knowledge of its layout?
I had block 5 couple of years ago, pines were being thinned was hard to move about off track without making any noise
Sinu road, think thats how you spell it is the main road going up through the block, its a sand road and there were 3 main deer crossings on it, that would be your best sit and wait spot i would think
We went in on the end of a storm still raining so prints we saw were all fresh and the buggers even walked in our boot marks as we found out on the way back out, if the wind is going to be SW like it can be might pay to suss your map and cut across the top of the block and come down Sinu road from North to South
I would ring Allgood from the other forum and have an updated yarn, i have his no if you want me to PM it
Block one produced the goods last weekend i beleve
I had block 2 last year - mainly sat on the cliffs (when you see them they are obvious) - which overlook a lot of block 2 and out to block 1
Going south from the car park - along the boarder with block 2 - there are cut over pines on block 1 next to grown trees (this was last year anyway)
I saw a lot of deer in this area - a lot of toe toe and further on young pines - the valley runs north/south and is inside block 2 - so it comes down from block 1 as well
Anyway about half way down on the boundary road, is a road running west - its from this area that I saw 3 stags coming out of the young pines - which is block 2 but I'm sure that they move around a bit
Google Earth shows the area, its 2011 images, but still will give a idea
Well we went on Sunday - got lucky with the rain only a few small showers
Overall according to the patrol people it was a poor day - heard a few gunshots but all misses from what I know
Anyway we saw 3 deer total, plus 2 pigs
And we got a nice Doe!
A nice day out (any day out is nice) ((Generally))
 good on you for giving it a good nudge
sound a whole lot better than my 2 days sanding widow frames at home
Great result Faregame, ive missed out on the last two ballots, so im itching to get out there......
At least one of those shots wasn't a miss. This was what a good friend of mine got.

hi just signed up here,

Im on block 6 has any1 got in hints or info on the block?
Welcome aboard Taine. Just go in there and keep your eyes open. You are bound to see them
Well guys, our hunt in block #1 last weekend was fun, but the weather turned from good to fair to ratshit by 2pm. We saw 21 deer in total but only one of those a buck with palmated antlers and running way too fast to count his points or shoot. We think he had three spikers with him and tracked them for over two hours, eventually losing them in the mossy ground deep in manuka scrub. A mate shot a fat doe early in the morning, so we had a feed of DamaDama steak. A bit disappointing for neither of us other two in the block not to have an opportunity at a buck, but then again, bloody lucky to have scored a block in our first ballot application on our doorstep in the big smoke. Thumbs up to WFMC :)
Laying eyes on 21 is fairly good H4L. Shame about the buck running off
We had block 3 today, saw plenty and my young companion had a doe ticket and shot one early this afternoon with a good old Husqvarna .308 and Loopy 3-9. His first deer so we were pretty chuffed for him. :)
Barefoot is in there tomorrow. I hope he scores a good buck
Is woodhill solely ballot only??
Er, legally, yes. But there's quite a bit of poaching goes on... :XD:
And personally, I reckon more resources and policing should be on offer to the WFMC to catch more poachers. What an awesome herd on our back yard - why would 'hunters' want to damage the management of a herd which anyone can access by ballot for $30!? If the fallow jump a fence to private land... Well, that's a different story of course ;)
Woodhill gets raped by poachers in huge numbers, amazing how people are willing to loose there FAL for them
