Thread: 1" leather slings

I'm after a couple of old but serviceable 1" leather slings to finish off a couple of vintage rifle restorations

Something original that you have taken off to replace with a modern padded sling
Just plain leather and buckle style or what ever
A bit of neatsfoot oil and it will have another life

To go on this and two 1885s
Just varmint rifles so I don't have to carry for hours
But I need to safely sling for glassing and getting through gates

Personally I find the leather slings with buckles and a row of holes are an uncomfortable ugly curse. I have had old rifles that were fitted with a 23 mm wide strip of saddle leather that tapered a little towards each end. Ends secured with a double tied leather thong. This means there are eight holes to punch at each end of the sling. Very clean, classy and effective, with the loose end of the thong also tapered to half its width.

I have one for a pattern, might be hard to get the leather before xmas.
