    1000yd 7mm projectiles wanted

    Hi Guys,

Looking to start load development on my new-to-me F-Class 284 Winchester barrel. Original owner had loads for the 162gr AMAX which are no longer available.

He also had a load he was playing with for the 180gr Scenars.

I would like to buy a selection of say 20 1000yd accurate projectiles, Bergers, Hybrids, Lapua's and whatever else you think is good enough for 1000yd competition.

Please advise what you may be willing to let go of?
    Peter

    Hi Peter.

The 162 ELD replaced the 162 Amax. I would suggest you go that way. I shot the 175 ELDx out of my 284W.

Berger VLD Target are a top notch projectile. Pay more than say Hornady but you've only got to do a bit of measuring and weighing of projectiles to work out why.

Jaco Goosen is right about the 162 ELD

Gunworks sells packs of 15 or 20 on some bullets.
Of course they are more expensive per bullet than a full pack but cost effective way to try out several options.
You have to find the bullet you want on their web pages then there will be a drop field that usually has 100 bullet pack as the default. If you click on the drop arrow to open that field, it will show if there is a smaller quantity option.

    Thanks Guys.

Bit lax to waste barrel life & powder on the ELD's as there is plenty of evidence the Match version are known to disintegrat occassionaly before getting to 1000yds. Not sure if the "ELD-X" versions are as accurate as the so called lighter jacketed "Match" ones?

JACO; were you shooting paper with those 175's? If so, how good were they?

Hi Peter. I cant complain about the 175s performance and accuracy.

I regularly shot them out to 1400m without any problems. A buddy shot 168 VLDs out of his 284 and I really could not see any difference in accuracy(except for price and availability).

Shot and killed a Bluewildebeest at 525m and the performance as a hunting bullet was good.(I shot the ELDX)
