    1907 bayonets

Wanted to gift to Army unit for escorts to the colour party.

Condition not that important as they will be chromed and tidied up by myself.

    Cheers,

Does the Colour Party escort use SMLE's? I thought they had SLR's (or does it vary around the country?).

    Depends on the unit.

Some use SMLE and some STEYR, MARS-L and some even use STEN

It only looks right with a long rifle and bayonet. The SLR was ok but bullpup rifles look stupid in my opinion.

I have a Pattern 1888 bayonet that fits lee enfield rifle. Has original sheath and locking lug works.

Good quality Indian repro's are available overseas for about US $65 or so (Rocky Mountain Knives?). They would be way cheaper than an original '07 and more suitable for chroming. You would need an import permit.

When I was a school kid in Ch-Ch Turner & Le Brun sports shop had them (no scabbard) for 2/6d (25c). We all bought them for sword fighting, etc!

maybe, Im probably just biased towards the original condition stuff. I suggest all the steyr bayonets get chromed, might as well chrome the rifles too....
