    1943 Remington 1903A4 sniper build.

    1943 Remington 1903A4 sniper build.

This was a sporterised 1903 I picked up a couple of years ago. I sourced a 1943 Remington milsurp barrel 8/10 for condition, nice and bright with strong rifling and had Allen Carr fit it to the action. It is fitted with a repro WW2 Redfield copy mount and ring set (could not source an original)
The stock is a nice walnut Numrich repro and the metal work is all milsurp.
The scope is not included as it is not original and does not work any how. But it is similar to the original Weaver 330 scope. My original intention was to get 7/8 rings and source a Lyman Alaskan for a period correct scope from the US, but I am simply not going to get around to shooting it.
Anyone who is into these knows the difficulty sourcing this stuff in NZ and I've only ever seen one original for sale at over $5000.
After $2100ono. My other one with a similar barrel shoots well under an inch with no bedding. Incredibly smooth actions.

Very interested. I see this scope on Ebay and ships to NZ... it looks like it has mounts - do you know if this will attach to your rifle or are further parts needed?

Give me the link and I'll tell you. Basically a 3/4 inch scope will fit this ring set on the rifle.

That's the right model scope, the rings appear to be the Redfield type as well but they were unmarked so you would never know. You could install that scope straight to the base and it should fit. I would however do your research on that scope though as I believe the repro models have the windage adjuster on the opposite side to the original Weaver scopes. Of course if this does not bother you then by all means go for it. Personally like I said in the advert I'd be looking for a Lyman Alaskan. Like this scope they often come with the Redfield rings still attached.

The Weavers are only .5 more powerful at 3x. Not high powers that's for sure. The Lyman Alaskan was developed into the M82 and eventually the M84. Being 7/8 they are less of a pencil than the 3/4 Weaver 330c. To my eye they just look better on the rifle too, better proportions. Google 1903A4 M82 and have a look.
