GC had a huge shipment of M1's for same at the beginning of the year. I can't remember where they cam from.
A staffer mentioned to me that they were the biggest seller they had for a while. Flying off the shelves. A Cat in those days with smaller aftermarket mags and any with bayonet lugs had them removed (Many originals never had bayonet lugs on them either. Support staff that the M1 was originally intended for didn't really need bayonets).

    Israel or Germany I think.

Yes. They couldn't import as E. So either the first two styles of barrel bands had to be installed or the lug ground off.

They shoot better with the third style with the lug on.

Hey @Luke556 there is no reason why it cant be sold to a collector.
Just find a collector to sell it to, then they get a P2P and presto.
    Use enough gun

Good riddance I say, danger to the community etc etc.

Had an email from COLFO today saying to continue to write to MPs to keep the pressure on.
Would be great if you sent a email/letter talking about the loss of historical rifles, making mention that you aren't even allowed to export them (hardly a risk to NZ safety).
I think pictures could even help as the M1 Carbine is hardly a scary black rifle.

Guys if you can avoid the mincer in any way you have to try. These are world saving pieces of history. Waaaaay different to an ar15 made in 2015.

    Agree 100% @Burb122

I know a bunch of collectors who would love to save the historic items but they only have so much money. @Luke556 more than happy to help if I can.

it probably would have sold, but i was advised by Ted Rogers that no prohibited semis could be sold regardless.
He said the cops wouldn't issue permits even tho this was formally an A cat registered gun

@Luke556 don't know where you live but you should send some form of letter to you local MP (hopefully National) out line the situation and ask the question of what is actually being achieved here?
It's a different angle than most of us have taken, hopefully one that will generate a different response.
