Nice, what cartridges are you planning?

I have an early Samuel Marson 20ga sxs with 2.5 chambers and the greener style top lock that I have been looking at and wondering whether I could sleeve or rebarrel it to a classic safari chambering and fit a nice set of express sights.

I would be very interested to see how you get on with your project

@Spudattack its all in the proofs.
I can crunch the numbers but can confidently say a 2 1/2" 20 gauge will not be a go with a big game caliber.
I modern European 20 with greener cross bolt can go 303
Some guys do big DG calibers on 20 and 16 frames and find that the recoil is a droblem.

    Big cal = big frame.
    I'm doing a 45-70 on a 12 gauge frame.

Will do a 303 on 20 gauge frame when i fing a good donor.

Complete re barrel rather than sleeve the shotgun barrels. Sleeving makes them too heavy out the front.
New barrels can have a lot of taper and be very light at the muzzle due to being soldered to the othe and being very rigid.

Your old 20 / 2 1/2" might go nicely in 30-30 or 38-55 which is a sweet little cartridge.

A "droblem" Akaroa ?? Of all the new words created on this forum I like this the most, I am struggling with its meaning however - could you please enlighten

Am I correct to guess that recoil calculated for Dangerous game firearms is measured in 'Droblems' ??

Yeah, I think a DG chambering would be unbearable, but something like a 7x57R with 22 barrels would be my pick, or should I say .275 Rigby Rimmed as its an english gun

    Droblem also known as Problem

    Agree about the 7x57 Rimmed
I have a 6.5x65 R and its a real screamer in a light single shot.

For me its between a 303 and an 8x57R on a 20 gauge frame.
The 8mm is ballistically better on paper
303 is way cooler and wins

    @Moa Hunter
A droblem could be a derivation of dumb arse problem ?

I can see the context of saying " i have a bit of a droblem "
Maybe a firearm specific term for munted ?
