    .224 take off barrel

Hey Guys Im after a take off barrel for a test project, preferably a heavier contour and any cal in .224 range, 1-12" or 1-14" twist ideal but will consider others. Needs to have a decent bore for at least 18" in front of chamber.
    No crappy Tikka barrels thanks.

Yep, I've got a HB Sako 223 in 1:12 barrel. Has a slight pit about 60mm back from muzzle, it's 23" long from memory. Yours for $75....keen?
When I say HB, its an axle

Is it a factory Sako barrel? Im guessing chromoly? What diameter is it at the muzzle?
It may be a bit hard on my new reamers but will consider it for sure

Yep Sako moly from the 70's. Just had another look and pitting more like about 120mm from muzzle. 600mm long, 26.18mm at tenon & 19.05mm at muzzle. I reckon you would get 18" from original chambering, so may not suit.

    Kind of....

.22 TCM 40deg Imp. I need to test bullet weights twist and barrel lengths before I sink real money into a good barrel.

Its basically a half size .223 AI (Same parent case) meaning 55000psi case pressure is the norm. For that reason its achievable velocities are far higher than the lighter brass cases in its capacity such as .221 Fireball, .22 bee, .22 hornet etc. Reports of 3000fps with 40gr and 3300 fps with 32-35 gr with 11-12gr of Hodgdon Lilgun.
I always liked my .22 K Hornets on the bunnies but brass life was crap. the TCM will feed with long ballistic tipped bullets form .222 and .223 mags too. Ill be building on a .222 Brno Fox.

It may still work if I use the front half of the .223 chamber. How does the throat look? Any erosion/wear?

Throat looks good to my eye. Pitting at muzzle very minor but still there. Only removed as I made a 6x45.

That sounds bloody perfect.. can you also check the useable length if cut at the 22-250 chambers neck and have a quick look at the throat.
I will only need 25mm dia for the shank and about 50mm length for thread and knox if the fluting will allow that.

    Sorry been extremely busy.

It is 26.6mm diameter straight profile Flutes are 63mm from the muzzle & current action thread shoulder so plenty of length.

It is 25" to the action thread shoulder & has six flutes ex 1-14 26" 22-250 Longmaster VT, currently 22-243 imp
