    .22LR FN Browning Trombone rifle

Made in 1927, functions flawlessly and accurate. Has a pinned repair to the wrist wood but that is a common fault with these.

Magazine will only fit 10rds so not prohibited. But could get $560 from govt “buyback”.

    $500 plus shipping.

Actually that's chambered .22 Long, not Long Rifle. Slight difference in that the case size is the same as LR but it runs shorter (lighter) pills. The leade to where the rifling starts would be a bit shorter. After this many years and much use, it probably is of no consequence. However, it may well hold 12 or so .22 Longs in the magazine and since that is what it's marked for, technically could still need modification, although the po po don't seem to be mentioning/aware of the existence of .22 Short and .22 Long...

I had an early one marked .22 S L & LR for all three carts, one imagines it was just chambered for .22 LR in reality.

If it isnt prohibited, the Police will either turn you around or you can hand it in for nothing.

If as mentioned it is 22L and holds 12, then it is a prohibited firearm and cant be sold. - The second to last photo does look like it says .22L

On my Trombone I can get 11 .22LR in the mag. So I have made the mod on mine to limit to 10. Clearly it’s more dangerous to the community having an 11 round capacity than 10

Yeah, I hear you. Ridiculous that a 90 year old firearm has to be modified at all. Modifying an antique firearm probably devalues it more than a modern firearm.

Can you get .22 Long cartridges? I've also come across at least one instance where a forum member mis-described .22LR as .22L.

I have known OF the three .22s (.22 S L and LR) for years but I've never SEEN a .22 Long.

22 L is chambered for 22 LR some other European 22's also use L for LR from information on rimfire central. I have 3 trombones stamped 22 L they all chamber LR ammo without issue. 2 will hold 11 and the other only 10 .
Velocity is thrilling, but diameter does the real killing.

CB Long is not Long .

The 11 rounds in the mag - was that eleven in the mag tube or ten in the mag and one in the action waiting to be chambered?

The law says ten in the mag - which is the inner tube removed from the rifle , not fitted with one in the action.

Wiki (don't always believe this source) rates FN Trombones as 11 rounds of 22LR. Mine is 1968 vintage and holds 11 rounds up to the loading port. Held 12 rounds (modded back to 10) if dropping one more into top of tube and holding finger over loading port to keep last round in whilst pushing inner down.

Glad mine is now modded and no longer a threat to the general public.

Virtually all of my tube mag 22LR rifles would hold one more above the level in the loading port including one rated by the manufacturer at 10 rounds. Modded that one as well.
